Albany Booster Club

The Albany Booster Club raises funds for music, drama, sports teams and all extracurricular activities that enrich the lives of students. It also provides a vehicle for schools clubs and organizations to raise funds by selling refreshments at district sports events.

Albany Friends of Music (AFOM)

The Albany Friends of Music is a volunteer organization of parents, teachers, and community members who support music education in the Albany City Schools. Our mission is to promote music education at all levels by raising revenues to provide state-of-the-art music programs and to open up greater music education opportunities for all students. Tax-deductible donations to support the Albany Friends of Music can be made here.

Albany Police Athletic League

The Albany Police Athletic League (PAL), Inc. builds partnerships among youth, police and the community through collaborative programs designed to encourage and develop good citizenship and improve the quality of  life in Albany, New York. They work with AFE in many areas including Coach as Mentor and other mentoring programs. AFE has been a past beneficiary of their Annual Capital Holiday Lights.

Albany PTAs

Each school in the district has its own PTA that works to build a community within the school and enrich the lives of students.

Capital Region Sponsor-a-Scholar

Capital Region Sponsor-a-Scholar’s mission is to assist economically disadvantaged students graduate from high school and attend college by providing mentors, academic tutoring, and other social interactions for selected students in partnership with the public high schools.

 

Grassroots Givers

Grassroots Givers connects with individuals, families and businesses to collect like-new donations: clothing for children and adults (casual and professional), accessories, housewares, linens, small toys and books for all ages. The organization shares these resources with individuals, nonprofits, academic programs, literacy projects and other agencies serving those in need. Grassroot Givers supplies the books for the Feed and Read program.

Homeless and Travelers Aid Society (HATAS)

HATAS was formed in 1927 with the mission to end homelessness within Albany County and the Capital Region. They provide relief by meeting the immediate need for shelter, food, and clothing in addition to addressing the long-term need for affordable housing and sustainable employment and employ a holistic wrap-around approach in caring for our neighbors in need. As part of this holistic approach, HATAS is a key partner in the Feed and Read program, packing bags each week in their Albany warehouse and delivering them to schools to be shared with hungry students and families.

The Vegetable Project

The Vegetable Project in Albany, N.Y., established in 2009, creates hands-on learning opportunities that involve science, the environment, entrepreneurship, tasting really fresh food and responsibility for care of living things by growing vegetables and other plants.
