The Albany Fund for Education welcomed Albany’s newest teachers with a surprise $100 Amazon “classroom warming” gift-card to be used to help them set up their new classrooms and make them their own. AFE Executive Director Mari Shopsis introduced the program, explaining: “We hope that your career in Albany will be long and rewarding and are happy to help you get off to a strong start!”
Generous funding from First New York Federal Credit Union ensures that all new teachers joining the Albany City School District throughout the year will receive this warm welcome. From its establishment in 1937 as the Schenectady Teachers Federal Credit Union, First New York has consistently supported educators, students, and public education. As the credit union has grown, so has that commitment. First New York takes pride in providing funding for these new teacher gifts.
