Make a Difference Today!
Community generosity is the reason we’ve been able to channel more than $700,000 into programs that change students’ lives, and also instruments, computers, and other tangible items important for learning to the students who need them. We invite you to help further the work we do by supporting us financially and materially. Your unrestricted donation to AFE will be used to support our initiatives wherever the need is greatest.
Your donation today allows us to make a difference in the lives of Albany students tomorrow. The Albany Fund for Education is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the greatest extent allowed by law
Here’s a few examples of what your donation can do:
$50 – Purchase produce and culturally specific foods to stock our school food pantries
$100 – Repair a donated musical instrument so a student can practice
$150 – Provide trees and flowers for students to plant
$300 – Give a hungry student a backpack of food and a book to take home each Friday
$500 – Bring diverse authors into our schools to inspire our students
$1,000 – Fund a classroom grant, enriching curriculum and providing teachers with needed resources
Donations are used where there is the most need – if you would like to dedicate your donation to a specific program, please contact us.
Tribute Gifts
Gifts to the Albany Fund for Education are a wonderful way to honor a friend or family member, or to celebrate the memory of someone special. To make a tribute gift, simply complete the donation form and specify the name of the honoree and the nature of the tribute. If you would like us to send a card to the honoree or to a family member for a memorial tribute, please provide their name and address as well.
The Albany Fund for Education is also home to three named scholarships. The Dr. Alexander Aiello Paley (’04) Memorial Scholarship and the Brendan Fahy Bequette (’14) Memorial Scholarship both honor the memory of two Albany High School graduates who were taken from us far too young. The C.V. Raman Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of Mr. C.V. “Raju” Raman, brother of Albany School Board Member Sridar Chittur. To make a donation to any of these funds, please click on the photos below.

Workplace Giving
Employees of the City School District of Albany can easily support AFE by participating in the District’s Payroll Deduction program. This program allows employees to designate an amount to be deducted from their biweekly paycheck and donated directly to AFE to support programs such as teacher grants and weekend food backpacks. By donating a small amount every other week, CSDA employees can have a big impact! $3/pay period might not make a large dent in someone’s paycheck, but 100 people donating $3/pay period equals an additional 20 students able to participate in the Feed and Read program. $10/pay period will repair two donated instruments and put them in the hands of student musicians – and 100 people donating $10/pay period will provide more than 40 teacher resource grants!
To enroll in the Payroll Deduction program, please complete this form and return it to Human Resources at any time.
State Employees can also donate to AFE through SEFA, the State Employees Federated Appeal. SEFA pledges are distributed through the year as post-tax payroll deductions, allowing you to spread out the impact of your gift throughout the year – and give more generously than you might be able to in a single donation. AFE’s SEFA # is 50-00458.
